I am attempting to raise £5000 to contribute to the medical expenses which must be met by a friend whose son is in a coma in Zimbabwe. For obvious reasons, having experienced the trauma caused by head injury with my own son, this is a need that touches my heart. As you read this I really do not want you to feel under any obligation to donate. But if you felt to do so that would be a huge blessing. Here is the situation.
Za lives in Zimbabwe, the 32 year old son of a close friend of mine. 15 years ago he was head-injured in a car crash. In June this year he collapsed and went into a coma, where he still is.
The health care system in Zimbabwe is not functioning as the Doctors and Nurses are on strike – they have not been paid for many weeks. So Za’s mother, who is a care worker in the UK has had him admitted to a private hospital. This costs about £700/$900 per week plus medication, an amount that is way beyond what she can afford.
This, of course, echoes with our own experience 28 years ago when our son was head-injured from a motor-cycle accident. He was unconscious for 16 weeks and is still severely disabled. But in contrast to Za we have benefitted from the free National Health Service in the UK.
I am asking you to stand with me and contribute to Za’s expenses, however much or little you can afford – in £, $ or Euros. I know him, his mother and three siblings, and want to help them in any way I can. Will you please join me? Here is a short video – click on the picture:
