Feeding 5000 is no picnic…
Where did it all begin? In June 2009 I was persuaded to write my first blog. Several people had suggested it but I doubted that I had much to say and that anyone would read it. I wanted to address the primary themes of Church Administration and Ministry with the Poor and felt God drop the phrase ‘Feeding 5000 is no picnic…’ into my mind. It seemed to combine the challenges of administration with the needs of those who are poor or in need, described by Jesus in Mark 6:34 as ‘sheep without a shepherd’.
And so the blog was born. I guessed I could keep going for about 3 months. Admittedly I have added other topics from time to time but now, 10 years and nearly 500 blogs later, I am still writing! Thank you, faithful followers!!
As I reflect and review the popularity of topics I realise that some are clearly of greater interest than others – aspects of the history of Newfrontiers always attract a high readership. Other topics have been quite niche – ‘How to chair a meeting’ for instance. But since I have seen this blog as an equipping and training vehicle as well as one to provide information I have never been concerned if some posts attract a lower readership.
Searches
So, what is available through the ‘back catalogue’? How about doing a bit of browsing? If you wish to search for a topic you can start with the top tabs: The Poor, Equipping and News. To refine a search open any page from the home page and you will find a search facility. For instance, you might like to search for ‘administrative’ topics such as
- The Gift of Administration
- Elders and trustees
- Effective meetings (such as elders or trustees meetings)
- Time Management
- Decision making
There are also many posts related to Ministry with the Poor such as
For News try
- Newfrontiers
- Specific Newfrontiers apostolic spheres eg Catalyst, Commission, Regions Beyond, Relational Mission etc
- Terry Virgo
- Specific nations eg India, Kenya, Guinea, Burundi etc
Nb News is also available by subscribing to the Newfrontiers website and to the Friends of Newfrontiers Facebook page.
Resources
There are many training resources available under Videos, Books and Audios in the Resources section.
Looking forward
I have been publishing a blog most weeks, except the holiday periods, but going forward I may reduce the frequency. I also plan to have more guest writers to fill out my lack of knowledge and expertise. It has been a privilege to work with some already. I am also considering revising and re-publishing some of the most popular topics. I am aware that readership has changed and expanded over the years and also that some of the material inevitably needs refreshing.
I hope you enjoy browsing. If you search for a topic that is ‘missing’ let me know. I will then try to respond with a fresh blog.
Happy Reading!
